Designed for age 3+ in the “I do it myself" phase, wanting to cut fruits for themselves or join adults.

Product Description

Most "safe" knives for kids are chunky, dull, and difficult to use, leading to frustration and poor habits. We built the Pinch Mini on a different principle: true safety comes from proper technique.

The Pinch Mini features a unique, compact geometry that guides small fingers into a secure, controlled pinch grip. By focusing on ergonomics rather than "over-safed" gimmicks like plastic bolsters, we’ve created a sharp, effective tool that respects your child’s ability to learn. It’s not just a knife; it’s a foundational teaching tool that builds confidence and coordination in the kitchen.

Knife with a green handle on a wooden cutting board with fruits

Professional Grade 420J2 Stainless Steel

Engineered to balance Hardness and Toughness. This specific alloy ensures the blade is hard enough to hold its specialized serrations through hundreds of prep sessions, yet tough enough to resist chipping or snapping if dropped.

Traction-Grip Ergonomics

The outer layer is made of high-traction TPE, specifically chosen for the Pinch Mini to provide a non-slip surface for toddlers whose grip strength is still developing.

Ultra-Durable Foundation

Beneath the soft-touch grip lies a rigid Polypropylene core. This provides the structural integrity needed to keep the blade perfectly aligned and ensures the knife won't flex or warp during use.

Hygienic "No-Gap" Build.

Unlike traditional knives with riveted wooden or plastic handles, the Pinch Mini is created through a 3-step injection process. This creates a molecular bond between the steel, the core, and the grip.

3.7 inch Kindvex Tech™ Blade

The perfect length for little learners. Long enough to handle real kitchen prep, yet short enough to ensure the center of gravity remains exactly where the child grips the knife for maximum safety.

What can it cut?

  • Tapered Bolster Guide

Our seamless tapered bolster naturally funnels small fingers into a professional pinch grip for immediate stability and chef-level control.

  • Precision Balance Point

By centering the weight exactly at the pinch point, we’ve created a "weightless" feel that lets the child guide the blade without fighting it.

  • Smooth Contact Edges

We hand-round the spine and choil to eliminate sharp factory edges, protecting little fingers from pressure points and irritation.

  • Kindvex Tech™: High-Performance Safety

Our proprietary, transition-tuned architecture that leads with a high-traction offset edge profile, integrated into a pro-grade convex grind and calculated blade thickness to slice through food while remaining significantly gentler on skin.

  • Wide-Profile Geometry

The wide blade geometry ensures ample knuckle clearance and a neutral wrist position to keep hands safely above the cutting board.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it really cut vegetables but not skin?

Yes! The Pinch Mini is engineered with a unique blade geometry and alternating serrations that apply pressure to firm vegetables while remaining gentle on skin. While it is a real tool and should always be used under supervision, it is designed to significantly reduce the risk of accidental cuts.

Can it cut hard vegetables like carrots or potatoes?

Technically, yes. However, similar to professional sharp knives, cutting through large chunks of very dense vegetables (like a whole raw potato or a thick carrot) requires significant downward force. Because the Pinch Mini is designed for safety and smaller hands, we recommend starting with "disks" or smaller pieces. For the best experience, we suggest toddlers use a "bridge" or "claw" grip to maintain stability when prepping firmer produce.

What is the "Pinch Grip" and why does it matter?

The pinch grip is the standard technique used by professional chefs for maximum control and safety. By "choking up" on the blade with the thumb and index finger, the knife becomes an extension of the hand. Our design features a tapered bolster and a faceted handle that naturally guides your child’s hand into this position, preventing the knife from twisting or slipping.

How do I clean and maintain the knife?

The Pinch Mini features a seamless injection-molded construction, meaning there are no gaps for food or bacteria to hide. While the materials have been tested to be dishwasher safe, we recommend hand washing your knives. The harsh chemicals and high heat found in many dishwashers can, over time, damage the stainless steel and the synthetic handle material. A quick wash with warm, soapy water is all it needs.

Is the material safe for my child?

Absolutely. We hold our products to the highest safety standards. The Pinch Mini is third-party lab tested and certified to be BPA-Free, Lead-Free, Phthalate-Free, and Cadmium-Free. It is fully compliant with FDA and EU food-safety regulations.

What age is the Pinch Mini for?

The Mini is specifically designed for toddlers (Ages 3+) who are in the "I do it myself" phase. The handle is shortened and textured with TPE to fit smaller palms perfectly, helping them build fine motor skills before they graduate to the larger knives in our series.

Internationally Recognized Innovation

Pinch Mini is part of the Pinch Series that was honored with the iF Design Award 2026 for its breakthrough in child-focused culinary ergonomics.

This global recognition validates our mission: providing functional, high-quality instruments that bridge the gap from "toy to tool"
